What if I told you everything you need is already inside of you?
How do I know that? Because you have done hard things. You have had difficult days, weeks, and months, but made it through. You are strong, resilient and capable of overcoming life’s challenges.
You are a warrior, with a superpower. You are unique, and have gifts that the world wants you to share.
You already have everything you need, you simply need to start.
I invite you to do one money related thing you have been putting off. First take a deep breath in and a deep breath out. Then:
Check your credit card balance. Open the medical bill sitting on your desk. Ask for the refund. Cancel the subscription you don’t need.
Now is the perfect time to do one thing you have been putting off.
Just one thing you haven’t wanted to look at or do. You don’t have to wait. Your anxiety will go down when you start to chip away at the thing. When you take action.
If you aren’t sure where to start, below are some examples to pick from and get you started.
1) Check your credit card balances
Log into each of your credit cards and check the balance owed as well as your interest rate. Consider calling and asking for a lower interest rate. Yes, they really might lower your rate just because you ask nicely! Here is a script you can try.
2) Check your credit score report
You can get a free copy of your credit report from each of the 3 credit reporting agencies once a year, not directly from the agencies but through annualcreditreport.com which is a source approved by federal law.
Maybe your score and report are much better then you think. Or maybe you find something you didn’t know was bringing your score down, and you finally have the information you need to fix it.
3) Review your beneficiaries for your retirement/investment accounts.
Have you checked who you’ve designated to inherit your retirement account recently? If you have never designated a beneficiary or have not updated your designation since experiencing a major life event (marriage, divorce, having a child are just a few common examples) then you will want to check. You may not want to think about it, but its important and you will feel better after taking care of it.
4) Open a High Yield Savings Account
A HYSA is a great, essentially risk free way to grow your savings right now, since rates are historically high. If you have emergency savings in a checking account this one is for you.
Now is the perfect time to start your financial wellness journey.
