Have you ever felt like you lost trust in yourself?
At times, often after periods of difficulty, we can get disconnected from our intuition. Our intuition is crucial to help steer us towards financial decisions that will fulfill us. There is no right money choice. There is however, a right money choice for you. But how do you know what’s right for you when you have lost your connection to your inner knowing? Read on to learn how to build trust in yourself.
When this happens, financial wellness might feel totally out of reach. Finding joy in your financial life, aligning your spending with your values, and creating a plan that fulfills you–where do you even start when you can’t hear the voice inside you clearly?
1) Start with listening to your body.
Try to pay attention to how it feels in your body when you say yes to something. You may notice that when you say yes to something that isn’t right for you, your body whispers to you, with for example, a migraine, a backache, or trouble sleeping. Saying yes to things that aren’t in line with our authenticity dampens our connection to intuition. It takes energy from us without giving any back. Begin to notice where you expel your resources– your money, your time and your energy. Listen to the whispers in your body. Saying no can be self-care, and repairs our relationship to intuition.
2) Try some somatic exercises.
Somatic exercises help you build your mind body connection. These exercise are typically very gentle and often assist you in releasing tension in the body as well as releasing difficult emotions.
“The term “Somatics” was coined by professor and theorist Thomas Hanna in 1976 and it has come to represent a field of movement studies and bodywork that focuses on the internal physical sensations, perceptions, and experiences of the body.”
When you release difficult emotions, you will be able to make more financial decisions from the rational part of your brain.
3) Breathe.
Pranayama is an ancient breath technique originating in yoga, the practice of breath regulation. In Sanskrit, “prana” means life energy and “yama” means control. This ancient wisdom teaches us that controlling your energy and life force begins with your breath. Your breath is always there with you. Try belly breathing. Inhale through your nose and fill your lower belly up with air. Let your breath out slowly through the mouth.
Forcing something because it seems like it should work for you is quite different from meeting yourself exactly where you are with curiosity.
With patience and self-compassion you can re-build trust in yourself.
